Chris Jenness

Chris Jenness was born on the Navajo reservation in Arizona in 1973, and spent his high school years in El Paso, Texas. College and a biology scholarship found Chris, but after only two years, he shocked everyone and transferred to an Art major. It was a good match, and Chris focused on the new genre of Computer Design. Chris graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Eventually, his wife Carla’s teaching career brought them to Alaska in August of 1999.

Upon arriving in Alaska, Chris obtained his own teaching degree and worked in the school system for several years before starting his own business, Jenness Graphic Design. Currently he works as a full-time designer, as well as a film critic for the local paper. He is co-owner of a local community theatre and has recently completed a children's book about the adventures of a wild Alaskan salmon. Chris produces artwork with paint, pastels, and pixels. His graphic style is well known and he has garnered a statewide reputation for his salmon and ravens. His work has shown in statewide juried and invitational shows and while his best known for his cartoon style paintings his work varies considerably."
