Born in 1961 in Kirkland, Washington,
Sherri Sather moved to Sterling, Alaska with her parents and siblings in 1971.
Some of her fondest childhood memories involve climbing trees and
mountains, camping, and beachcombing. Encouraged by her artistic
mother, Sherri experimented with art throughout her youth. She
attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks and later Kenai Peninsula
College studying art and psychology. Sather and her husband have
raised two daughters and live near Soldotna, Alaska. They enjoy
spending time in their secluded summer cabin near Seldovia were she
feels most inspired. Sherri has
participated in several statewide Alaskan art exhibitions including
Spirit of Alaska the Inner Landscape, and The Kenai
Experience. Her 2008 solo show at the Kenai Cultural and Visitors
Center, Ebb & Flow, exhibited her series of abstract
seashells. Sather’s work reflects her passion for expressive
organic forms. Her preferred mediums are graphite for its potential
in producing spontaneous yet structural marks and watercolor for its
fluidity.
