Thor
Evenson was raised in Kenai where he spent his childhood commercial
fishing with his family. He later went on to receive a Bachelor in
Art from Grinnell College in Iowa and a Masters of Architecture from
the University of Washington. Evenson is an accomplished painter who
spends his summers commercial fishing in Kenai and his winters
working as an architect in Anchorage. Evenson has exhibited his work
in galleries and museums throughout Alaska including the Anchorage
Museum of History and Art, the Pratt Museum, the Kenai Peninsula
College ‘Freeburg Gallery’, the Kenai Visitors & Cultural
Center, as well as galleries in Seward and Soldotna. Evenson has
participated in four ‘All Alaska Juried Exhibitions’, once
receiving an honorable mention. Evenson’s work is owned by the
Anchorage Museum, the Alaska State Council on the Arts, the Pratt
Museum and many private collections. Evenson has also received
commissions for painting murals from several businesses and
individuals.
