Shirley was born in San Francisco, California. Entering the professional art field at the age of 17 as an interior and window display artist in Glens Falls, New York painting backgrounds for department store windows. This led to interior and window display work at E.W. Edwards' in Rochester, N.Y. and Landauers' in Brockport, N.Y. as Display Manager.

She has been a successful artist, art teacher, art column writer and owner of several art galleries in California, New York State and Oregon. Well traveled over the years, she is recognized for her wildlife and animal paintings, seascapes and murals.

Shirley currently lives and works in Kenai Alaska.
