Born in Oregon the son of a commercial fisherman, Steve Hillyer spent his early years growing up on boats and the sea. Combat flying in the Korean Conflict followed and later a world ranging career in commercial aviation. Painting professionally since 1975, Steve developed his abilities as a successful illustrator before turning to fine art. A former member of the Alaska Watercolor Society and the Alaska Artists Guild, Steve is a member of the American Society of Aviation Artists.

Steve currently lives and works in Kenai Alaska.

March 17, 2008 Steve Hillyer has informed me that he is willing to do a custom remarque (a small painting on the print) on any of his prints being offered for sale.  Prices will run from $50 to $100 depending on the size of the remarque.  We are working out details on how it will work, but if you are interested in this service please contact me at wheath@alaskanvision.com
